Rotten Soil was founded in 2020 and initially began as a trio with Sebastian Kring (vocals, drums), Sven Kolling (guitar), and Sepp Kosancic (bass). Their first demo "From Sin to Salvation" was recorded in their own studio and mixed and mastered by their friend Max Mayhem, guitarist of the well-known band Evil Invaders. Shortly after, they released their debut album "From Beyond the Grave" on August 5, 2022.
The band quickly focused on becoming stage-ready to promote the album through live performances. With Sebastian Walther joining on drums, the lineup was complete, and the band began performing on various stages, including the Nordic Rock Festival in Vianden, as support for The Black Dahlia Murder, and at sold-out shows in their hometown of Trier. By the time they played the sold-out Metal Abomination last fall with Torment of Souls and Rotting Demise, Rotten Soil had become a well-known name in the regional scene.
With their driving, top-tier death metal, they are the new flagship of Trier’s death metal scene. The band puts a strong emphasis on energetic live performances that captivate their audience. Their mission is to transport listeners back to the golden era of 80s and 90s death metal—paying tribute to old heroes like Entombed, Dismember, and Grave—while giving their sound a modern edge.
Rotten Soil appeals to a broad audience, both at live shows and on streaming platforms like Spotify, where fans range in age from their early 20s to over 60.
Join Rotten Soil on a nostalgic yet forward-looking death metal journey—one that connects generations, honors the past, and forges a new path ahead.
